Paladon Systems is pleased to announce that they have successfully completed an order for the supply of four electro-hydraulic valve positioning systems for choke valves that exceed the operating pressures and temperatures of all other choke valves currently available in the industry.
Product Manager, Mike Northwood, “This project was extremely challenging from a technical perspective. Using an existing ring-main hydraulic circuit operating at 4,500 psig and with control via an infrared controller, the linear hydraulic actuators and control systems had to generate 165,000 lbs. of thrust, and position the choke valves with an accuracy of better than 0.5%. Designing the systems to be sufficiently robust to operate reliably in such an extreme application was demanding in itself, but the very low resolution positioning requirements also created significant technical hurdles for our design team. With 30 years of valve positioning experience, this was still a prestigious project win for us; and we were extremely pleased to have been trusted to provide positioning systems for such a critical and severe service application.”
